Week 6 Happy Dance!

HECK YEA! I’ve continued to blog for six whole weeks!

I’m still working on my copy cat story using Spar and There’s a Man in the Habit of Hitting Me on the Head with an Umbrella, and I finally started writing. I feel like it takes me forever to come up with a solid idea. I mean, I come up with ideas, but actually planting them and growing them is so different. I might have, for example, ten characters to choose from in my head and it takes me going through each of them to decide if they are the right one to tell the story. It requires a lot of writing, a few walks and a bazillion tarot card pulls until I find something that feels right. And that’s part of the difficulty, you know? When I’m at my profitable job and I’m coding, there aren’t so many choices to make and it’s much more rigid. Most of the time it’s what’s easiest and fastest, and of course there’s a little elegance thrown in. But with writing, the sky is so high it’s hard not to fly all around checking out every little cloud.

This week I was talking to my oldest son about a story I’ve been editing called Fibonacci’s Ghost and it was so much fun. I am so grateful one of my kids likes stories as much as I do. He actually gave me a “write it down” command while we were brainstorming. I took note and will be using that idea for a rewrite.

I’m sure you’re waiting to hear how the automatic cat litter box is. Fabulous, or mostly. I still have to clean it because one of the cats walks in and walks out mid poop. But it’s still easier than scooping daily. Not sure I can find a gif for that….

RIP Tom Robbins, right? His absurd sense of humor really spoke to me when I read his books in my 20’s. Reminds me to grab a copy and do a re-read. He was absolutely one of those influences that I’m really grateful for.

I’m not going to comment on politics this week except to say that there’s nothing I can do right now, but when the call comes, I’ll be ready.

And DAYUM! Kendrick Lamar! So great. One of my favorite halftime shows ever. I loved his commentary on Drake, on the right time, wrong guy, Samuel L Jackson as Uncle Sam and the flag created by black bodies. How incredibly brave and badass. I knew I was missing stuff, so here’s a little more intel. And I was wondering about the letter ‘a’ chain, too. Amazon? I don’t know. I’ll be curious to find out.

And that’s about it for this week, finding gifs was so much fun! Till next Tuesday!
